The Eastern Phoebe is a humble-looking flycatcher with a lively, raspy call. They are often found in open woodlands, and they build their nests near sheltered nooks on bridges, barns, and houses.
Phoebes are "hardy birds," wintering over farther north than many species, and they are one of the earliest to return in spring.
