Hi! I'm Phoebe. As a writer and map enthusiast, I'm excited about how communities can use data-driven storytelling to address challenges around resource access and equity.
After finishing my Masters degree in Geographic Information Science (GIS) at UMass Amherst in the spring of 2022, my partner and I embarked on a thru-paddle of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. This 740-mile scenic paddling trail connects waterways and landscapes from Old Forge, New York to Fort Kent, Maine. You can read more about our epic journey in my NFCT 2022 blog.
In the spring of 2020, I joined the Warner Farm CSA team. The following season, I served as the Direct Market Manager for Warner Farm, overseeing CSA share distribution and seasonal farmers markets. In the subsequent fall, winter, and spring seasons, I worked as a harvester and cellar hand at Black Birch Vineyard and on the kitchen crew at Kitchen Garden Farm where I helped make sriracha, salsa, pickles, and other value-added products using produce grown on the farm.
From 2015-2020, I spent my summers working as the assistant director at Biocitizen, an outdoor environmental education school based out of Northampton, MA where I taught elementary and middle school students about the geology, ecology, and bio-cultural history of western MA.
When I'm not making maps or writing about data, I love to cook with whatever food is in season and ride my bike.
